IF NOT NOW, WHEN?
Have you ever heard the expression: “IF NOT NOW, WHEN?” I am a super fan of this Echhart Tolle’s saying.
I truly believe that we should do “now” what can be done at this very moment, and we should avoid leaving things for later. We have to respect of course, the boundaries of each and every situation and/or person, refusing at all costs to allow procrastination to take place in our lives, be it consciously or unconsciously. You see, to do what you love – NOW – can be a rather daring goal for many people, because sometimes one just doesn’t know for sure what she/he loves to do, correct? In reference to a previous post of mine from September 2015, titled, “What’s your Talent?” I must ask you again: What’s your Talent? What is that you really love to do?
At this very moment it came to my mind the Brazilian artist Geraldo Vandré, with his lyrics: “Come, let’s go away, because waiting isn’t knowing, those who know make the time, they don’t wait for it to happen…” Believe that you can and should do what you love is a good thing, but believe, plan and taking action is more of a good thing! What is missing in you, so to develop in yourself the power of doing the things you should do NOW? Yes, to do it now, but do what you really love, so to be fully happy. This attitude can change your life faster than you think … can you just imagine it?
A tip I like to share with my coachees is for them to make use of visualization exercises. For instance, imagine yourself doing something that energizes you, that you really love, and to breathe deeply and visualize the details, the sounds, everything around you, doing it now, totally present in the moment! And feel your body, your mind, all your emotions and reactions linked to this view… and think for a moment what exactly is missing that prevented you until now to make a decision to move towards that direction? What is holding you back? What needs to be worked harder so you can not only imagine it, but also feel the accomplishment of creation and experimentation right now? This is a simple exercise that can help you take one step forward at a time towards a life filled with proactive attitudes.
I also like what Farrah Gray sends our way with these wise words: “Build your dreams, or someone else will hire you to build their dreams.” – wow – and now what? What do you really want? What are you waiting for? Reflect with me on this: you need to understand that you are a co-creator of your own reality, and your dreams will come true when you can equate your actions with the values and needs of your own self, in a balanced way, and with a hint of good energy to make it a reality.
Yes, I know, there is a lot more involved, but I insist – if we do not perform now, then when?
